Regional Minister satisfied with work at Ridge Hospital

Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Greater Accra Regional Minister, on Wednesday expressed satisfaction at the level of work done on the Quality Health Safety and Environmental Hospital project of the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

He said he was satisfied with the pace at which the contractor was moving and was hopeful that the project would meet the expected deadline of 24 months.

Nii Afotey Agbo said this when he inspected the project to ascertain the level of work done and to have a fair idea as to the progress of the project so far.

He said the facility, if completed, would reduce the current pressure on the Ridge Hospital and would enable it provide services to lots of people within the city.

He commended the contractor for the work done so far and urged him to work within time to meet the expected deadline.

Dr Emmanuel Obeng-Apori, Head of Medical Directorate, Ridge Hospital, said the project, when completed, would provide room to accommodate more patients.

He said the project was a completely new facility and not a rehabilitation of the old building, saying that it would cater for double the number of the old facility and expected to serve a much better purpose than the old.

Dr Obeng-Apori said the facility is a 600 bed capacity hospital which would be in two phases. The first phase would comprise 400 beds and is expected to be completed in 18 months while the second phase would be completed in 24 months.

He assured the public and health care practitioners at the Ridge Hospital that the project, expected to cater for the health needs of the public, was on course and would be completed in due time to ease the pressure and promote quality of service delivery in the hospital.
