Regional Minister Reveals Development Plans For Techiman District At Munufie Festival

Techiman (B/A), Aug 31, – Techiman is one of eleven district capitals benefiting from the Urban Three Project being funded by the World Bank and other donor agencies. Under it, the Techiman main market lorry park and streets are being rehabilitated at a cost of several million cedis. Mr David Osei-Wusu, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, made this known when he addressed a durbar of the chiefs and people of Techiman to mark their annual ‘Munufie’ festival. It is under the theme ”managing the environment for health and development”. Mr Osei-Wusu said public places of convenience are also being rehabilitated while four additional ones would be built at a cost of four billion cedis. He said, as part of its objective to bring development to all communities, the government is making efforts to extend electricity to Tuobodom, Tanobuase, Nkwaeso, Nsuta, Asueyi and Mesidan. On the dispute over the elevation of some chiefs to paramountcy by the Asantehene, Mr Osei-Wusu appealed to the people to cooperate with the government, National House of Chiefs and the traditional council in to find a lasting solution to the problem. In his welcoming address, Osabarima Dotobibi Takyia-Ameyaw, Omanhene of the Techiman traditional area, appealed to the government to ensure that the Iddrisu Mahama Committee tackles the Tano-Subin chieftaincy issue with all seriousness since any further delay would worsen the situation. He announced that the traditional council has allocated a 100- acre land to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) for the construction of an industrial cottage for which feasibility studies have been completed.
