Regional Minister expresses concern about increasing social vices

Kumasi, July 30, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister, has expressed concern about increasing rate of social vices such as drug peddling, serial killing, abduction, rape, defilement and promiscuity and said they militated against development. He therefore appealed to churches and other organised groups to intensify evangelism to win more souls for Christ and help to transform society.

Mr Owusu-Ansah said this in a speech read for him at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Bantama Ebenezer Methodist Church Guild Society in Kumasi on Sunday. The theme for the anniversary celebration was: “Restoration from Babylon to the Promised Land”.

Mr Owusu-Ansah urged members to embark on more activities and programmes to ensure the development of the church and society. In a sermon, Mr Emmanuel Tetteh, a student of the Trinity College Seminary in Accra, stressed the need for Christians to be committed to the worship of God so that their difficulties would be minimized. He urged Ghanaians to unite and show love and understanding at all times to ensure stability and development of the nation. Mr Tetteh said Christians were agents of change and asked them to live exemplary lives worthy of emulation.

Mrs Agnes Agyemang Duah, Chairperson of the Guild, said the society had been actively involved in evangelism and charity work. She appealed to individuals and organizations to assist the society to acquire a bus to enhance its activities to win more souls for Christ.
