Regional Minister Cautions Against Rampant Sale Of Lands In Greater Accra

Oyibi (Greater Accra Region), 28, Sept. Mr Joshua Alabi, Greater Accra Regional Minister, yesterday cautioned against the rampant sale of stool, clan and family lands in the region. Speaking at the annual Yam Festival of the chiefs and people of Oyibi near Dodowa, Mr Alabi described the situation as “explosive and grave”. ” Every inch of land in the region was acquired by the blood of our ancestors for generations both present and the future”. He asked ”if we dispose of all these lands as we are doing today, where will the future generation go?” The minister advised chiefs and elders wishing to dispose of stool lands to do so on leasehold basis. In a welcoming address, the acting Chief, Nii Bortey Borkete, listed development projects so far completed with the support of the Rotary Club of Accra, the Oyibi Development Committee, the Canadian High Commission and the Tema Municipal Assembly. The projects include electricity, pipe borne water, kvips and a bungalow for the local Agriculture Extensions officer.
