Kasoa (C/R), Nov 18, GNA. – Residents of Kasoa have called on the Ewutu-Effutu District Assembly to act swiftly to remove the refuse that had piled up for months at the Kasoa-Obom road to prevent the spread of cholera.
They said with the outbreak of cholera in some parts of Accra there was the need to save people from contracting the killer.
The residents made the call through the Ghana News Agency on Friday. Mr Joseph Ashon-Cudjiw, the Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association of the Saint Martha’s Catholic School, said the refuse, which had spread to half of the road, was getting too close to the Catholic, Ata Qwaa Islamic and Golden Age Schools.
He said any infection among the pupils would spread rapidly since they congregated together in the classrooms adding that almost adjacent to the refuse dump was a taxi rank.
Ashon-Cudjiw said the market was also few kilometres and that further delay in the removal of the refuse could bring untold harm to commuters.
