The Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw, has issued a warning to all adolescents, particularly young women in and around Dormaa Ahenkro, urging them to abstain from engaging in relationships with multiple partners which often leads to pre-marital sexual activities, which can result in teenage pregnancies and subsequent abortions, sometimes culminating in fatal consequences and other health complications.
Addressing congregations as part of his routine sensitization tour to churches within the Dormaa Central Municipality on Sunday, June 29, 2025, he visited the ST Dominic Roman Church, Church of Pentecost (English Assembly), and the Church of Christ.
The Municipal Chief Executive highlighted that a recent nationwide survey revealed that the three political divisions of Dormaa, being the Dormaa East, West, and Central were ranked as leading districts with teenage girls involved in relationships with multiple partners. He implored all teenagers to desist from such conduct. He advised these young individuals to consider their future by abandoning such unacceptable behavior, and seek a more promising future by participating in the NDC’s free apprenticeship program, which could help them secure a fruitful path forward.
Barima Efritete Sampong Siaw, the Mawerehene of Dormaa Traditional Council, who attended the service at St. Dominic Roman Church, conveyed his approval of the message delivered by the MCE.
He implored parents to exercise prudence in nurturing their offspring, as the prevailing lifestyle trends among the youth have unfortunately contributed to their untimely demise, a situation that should not occur. He took the opportunity to admonish adolescents to abstain from sexual relationships until they reach a stage where marriage is both traditionally and constitutionally appropriate, urging them to adhere to matrimonial protocols to secure a partner for a more wholesome union. He emphasized that premarital intercourse poses significant health risks and should be avoided by young individuals.
Evangelist Richmond Nyantakyi, the Head Pastor of the Dormaa Ahenkro Church of Christ, implored parents to nurture their offspring with diligence to prevent them from succumbing to premature sexual activities. He attributed the sexual conduct of many youths to their parents, stressing that numerous parents inadvertently facilitate their children’s involvement in family planning, thus granting them tacit approval to engage in sexual activities at an impressionable age, which adversely impacts their lives.
Furthermore, he counseled adolescents to refrain from such impious behavior, warning of the myriad health ramifications that could irrevocably alter their lives.
