Bolgatanga (U/E), July 14, – Redeployees in the Bolgatanga district have been asked to pay back loans they took from the International Fund for Agricultural evelopment (IFAD) and the Programme of Actions to Mitigate the Social Cost of Adjustment (PAMSCAD). Dr Albert Tenga, district chief executive, made the call when he met the redeployees at Bolgatanga to discuss modalities for giving out fresh loans to them. Dr Tenga said some of the redeployees owe the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) more than 10 million cedis, thereby making it impossible for others to benefit from the programme. Mr Kofi Tutu, district liaison officer of the National Mobilisation Programme (NMP), said all outstanding mastercraft fees for trainers of some of the redeployees would soon be paid to them. He noted that the NMP has donated sewing machines, farm implements and tools for artisans among the redeployees who wish to go into private business. In reaction, some of the redeployees appealed to the district chief executive to expedite action to bring defaulters of previous loans to book to pave the way for others to enjoy fresh loans for farming.
