Red Cross Provide Information On CSM

Accra (GAR), July 15, The Ghana Red Cross Society (GRCS) today donated 15,000 leaflets, providing information on Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis (CSM), to the Public Health Division of the Ministry of Health in Accra. The leaflets, printed with funds provided by the European Community Humanitarian Office have topics like: what is CSM, how does it spread, how does one know one has CSM, how is it managed and how CSM is prevented? Mr. A. Gyedu-Adomako, Secretary-General of GRCS, said 50,000 educational leaflets on CSM were printed to serve as guide-lines for the prevention, spread and management of CSM during the outbreak of the disease in the northern sector of the country early this year. He said 35,000 copies have been distributed to Red Cross branches in the three endemic regions of Upper East, Upper West and Northern regions. Nana Paddy Acheampong, Deputy Minister of Health, received the leaflets and praised the Red Cross for its role during the outbreak of CSM in the three Northern Regions.
