‘Reconcile’ Cadres appeal to Mills, Rawlings and Konadu

Koforidua, Aug. 5, GNA – Some allied groups of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) have appealed to President John Atta Mills, Former President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to reconcile their differences towards party unity.

They said settling their scores would enable their party to be stronger for 2012 and beyond.

This was contained in a message s ent to NDC, which also congratulated the party for holding of a successful National Delegates Congress in Sunyani, last month.

The Veteran Cadres Movement (VCM), and its allies, the People’s Independent Movement, the Concerned Citizens Movement, all pressure groups, and the Egle Party sent the message. Nana Addo Aikins, Convenor of VCM and Allies, signed the message, which was issued in Koforidua on Friday. The statement noted that the successful and peaceful delegates congress would for a long time continue to keep all those who had wished for chaos and failures at the congress wondering and 91also put all the lingering fe= ars of well wishers at rest.’

The statement said: 93It has also blazed the trail for moments of succ= ess and glory which the NDC must convert to advantage and good use.” It noted that the peaceful and successful congress would pave the way for the settlement of all the burning issues that had been raging on the ND= C front that threaten to create fears of division within the party. “Until it holds its next Regional Conference in Kumasi in the not too distant future to state its positions on the way forward, the VCM and its allies would for now only repeat its call on all to fully and peacefully work for President Mills, his natural ally, Ex President Rawlings and all others to help the party to continue to be in power.” The statement noted that four years was too short a time for the NDC to use for a meaningful change of the situation whose countless problems had largely been the making of all governments in Ghana since attainment of political independence in 1957.

“The VCM and its allies appeal to all security personnel who were detailed to keep peace at the Sunyani Congress to have patience and shelve all the grievances they may be harbouring in relation to the remuneration paid to them.”
