Recent rains not signs of raining season – Meteo

Accra, Feb. 22, GNA – The Meteorological Services Department said on Tuesday that rains the country recently experienced are not signs of the beginning of the raining season.

Farmers should therefore not start planting since the rains were not reliable, Mr Amos Narh, Deputy Officer in-charge of the Meteorological Services Department, Airport, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview.

He said at the moment, there was a transition from the dry season to the wet season and there could best be either dryness or rainfall. Mr Narh said the recent rains were due to factors such as low pressures from the west to the east of the Mediterranean, which induced moisture to the region.

He said the country could averagely expect the raining season to begin from March but cautioned that this could be earlier or latter. He said the department would soon come out with an accurate forecast of the rain pattern and the weather in general.
