Rear Admiral Dzang to be laid to rest

Accra, Feb. 23, GNA – The burial and funeral rites of the late Rear Admiral C.K. Dzang, a former Chief of Naval Staff, will take place at his hometown Nandom in the Upper West Region on Friday, February 26, 2010. The burial would be preceded by a burial service at the St Catherine Catholic Church, Burma Camp on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 0900 hours, according to a statement issued by the Ghana Armed Forces Public Relations Directorate.

Viewing of the body will be from 0730-0900 hours. The body would then be airlifted to Wa and then conveyed to Nandom for the traditional mourning ceremonies and funeral rites as well as the burial on February 25 and 26, 2010 respectively, the statement said. Rear Admiral Dzang served as a Secretary for Defence during PNDC regime.

He was appointed High Commissioner to Australia from 1978 to 1982, with concurrent accreditations to Malaysia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. He was also one time Ghana’s Ambassador to Japan with concurrent accreditations to the Commonwealth of Australia, Papua New Ghana, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam and Thailand. 23 Feb. 10
