Re-run of GJA Presidential election is smooth

Accra, Oct 3, GNA- The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) presidential election began smoothly at all the voting centres including the regions on Friday, Mr Mawusi Afele, the Electoral Officer told the Acting Features Editor and Political Editor respectively of the Daily Graphic Communications Group Limited, and Ms Adjoa Yeboah Afari, a veteran journalist, are contesting. Mr Afele said that the election began peacefully with no report of any difficulty from the centres. He said there are six voting centres in Accra with an identifiable centre in each of the regions.

The centres in Accra include, the Ghana News Agency, the New Times Corporation, Graphic Communications Group Limited, TV3, International Press Center and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC). He said staff from the Electoral Commission (EC), are assisting to conduct the election. Mr Afele said the electoral committee of the Association has cleared the register of all ghost names and was sure the electorates were satisfied since his office has not received any protest as far as registered members were concerned.
