RE: Rawlings defects to NPP

PRESS RELEASE*

*My attention has been drawn to a news item posted on myjoyonline.com dated 27th September 2011 regarding a false claim of a certain defection by President Rawlings’ to Nana Addo’s NPP. *

*The said story attributes to Alhaji Bature of the unpopular Alhaj newspaper as saying that I, Brogya Genfi have hinted President Rawlings’ defection to NPP. * * *

* “However, Editor of the newspaper Alhaji Bature Idrissu claimed one of the close pals of the Rawlingses from Ashanti region, Brogyaa Gyamfi gave the hint on a radio station in Accra that former President Rawlings has planned to defect to the NPP.” * * *

*I wish to state the facts as they have happened: *

* * *****1. Let me first establish that I am not a close pal of the Rawlingses. I am a card bearing member of the NDC who always defend the foundation of my dear party as it is a responsibility of every member of the NDC. President Rawlings is the foundation of the NDC and defending him does not qualify anybody to be his close pal. If Alhaji Bature proud himself as a close pal to President Rawlings after meeting him on only two occasions (with one on a mistaken identity), I am not.*

*2. 2. I have not said, hinted or suggested anywhere in the world that President Rawlings has planned to defect to NPP. What I have hinted out of a meeting between President Rawlings and myself, Joseph Yammin (Ashanti Regional Secretary – NDC) and Mohammed Uthman after the Sunyani Congress is that President Rawlings stated emphatically that he was not leaving the NDC; this is on public record. Alhaji Bature cannot claim not to have heard the news and this probably explains why he has been widely bashed as someone who has a ‘jaundiced ears’. * * *

*I also want to use this release to caution the discerning public to be on the alert when dealing with characters such as Alhaji Bature. His credibility is on a diminishing path and this may affect the outcome of any dealings with him. * * *

* *

*Alhaji Bature is on public record to have said that he “will never appear on any radio or television discussion of political issues should Nana Konadu contest President Mills at the Sunyani Congress”. Nana Konadu contested; what is Bature doing now?? * * *

* *

*Alhaji Bature accused Hon. Samuel Sarpong (Mayor of Kumasi), Hon. Baaba Jamal (Deputy Minister of Information) and Hon. Dr. Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah (Ashanti Regional Minister) of plotting to assassinate Joseph Yammin on suspicion of supporting Nana Konadu for 2012 flag bearership – NDC; he failed to provide evidence.* * *

* *

*Alhaji Bature is again on public record to have stated that the Rawlingses would form a new political party should they lose the Sunyani battle. What are we hearing now??* * *

* *

*Alhaji Bature made noise about flying Gizzel Yazzi to Ghana when he led ‘Friends of the Truth’; did the woman turn up??? * * *

* *

*Alhaji Bature said on angel fm, a Kumasi based radio station that President Mills has hinted to him that he was going to resign as the President of Ghana and would not contest for the flag-bearership race of the NDC; what happened????* * *

* *

*Alhaji Bature has always been at the centre of the failed strategies by the presidency to hound President Rawlings out of the NDC. * * *

* *

*Alhaji Bature should not be taken serious. He is simply a noise maker.* * *
