The Minister of health has only revoked Prof. Frimpong Boateng’s appointment as honorary director of the National Cardiothoracic Center (NCTC). There is a substantive Director (Dr Serebour) who is responsible for the facility.
Meanwhile Prof Frimpong Boateng is not an employee of the Ministry of Health and the position as honorary director raises all sorts of governance issues.
Prof Boateng is now an employee of the University of Ghana Medical School.
According to the Health Minister, Joseph Yieleh Chireh, there has been correspondence on this prior to his coming to the Ministry. Prof is currently of Professor of Surgery and does still operate on patients there. He has not been the Director for a couple of years now. Dr Serebour had been his second in command for years.
