RE-OPENING OF UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST

PRESS RELEASE RE-OPENING OF THE SECOND SEMESTER (2007/08) ACADEMIC YEAR-UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST

It has come to our notice that there are rumours circulating among students and the general public that the university will resume after the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, 2008 being hosted by Ghana. The Students? Representative Council (SRC) wishes to remind students of the only “University Of Choice” that the re-opening date for the second semester has not changed. This has been clarified in the University advertisement in the national dailies signed by the Registrar. The re-opening date is still Saturday, 2nd February, 2008 and registration of courses is from Monday, 4th to Friday, 8th February 2008 while lectures begin on Monday, 11th February, 2008. Final year Education Students who are doing their off-campus teaching practice will have their registration from 11th -15th February, 2008 when they report to school. The SRC is therefore entreating all students to report to school accordingly and get registered within the normal registration period to avoid payment of penalties for late registration. Students are also being advised to make themselves available on the first day of lectures to enable a smooth take off of the second semester. This is very crucial since we are doing 12 weeks of intensive teaching. It is therefore appropriate that we start the semester?s work early enough to avoid any undue pressure getting to the end of the semester. We wish all students a very safe journey to school and a fruitful second semester. SAMUEL BERT BOADI-KUSI OCANSEY STEPHEN (PRESIDENT) (CO-ORDINATING SECRETARY)
