I will like to state that I was stunned and deeply offended in reading a news story in which my speech at the NPP Japan inauguration ceremony on the 16th of September 2012 was misquoted in an internet article on Ghanaweb.com on the 20th September 2012. I must ask that the article be immediately retracted and the stories removed from all public sources, and notify those sources that have quoted it as an error.
During a brief interview I had with top radio on the 18th of September 2012, I explained the importance of working together as countrymen with a single goal of mobilizing development for our country Ghana. As I explained in the same interview, the presidential office is an institution that represents the entire nation of Ghana and as Ghanaians; we should display a level of respect which the contrary is clearly portrayed in the article.
The NDC is a political opponent not an enemy, I believe in educating the Ghanaian people on their rights as citizens and the responsibilities of the various public offices and statutes. I believe that insults and accusations which are not backed by confirmed facts at any point do not portray good political ethics.
It is for this reason that I request that you immediately retract the story, and publicly correct this error. Failure to do would, I believe, violate core ethical principles of journalism.
