RCC initiates Business development platform for Volta Region

The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) is harnessing ideas to build a business development platform to guide entrepreneurial ventures in the Region.

The Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Ford Kamel, gave the hint during an interaction with Journalists in Ho on Wednesday.

He said the blueprint should provide the references and the linkages to propel the economic growth of the Region, which was largely an industrial desert with only one running middle level industry, Diamond Cement Ghana Limited at Aflao.

Mr. Kamel said, this approach was aimed at varying business propelling mechanisms in the Region.

At one time, the pinnacle of promoting business in the Region was the yearly Volta Trade and Investment Fair.

Mr. Kamel at many engagements had propagated a jetty at the coast to expedite salt extraction and export, other agribusinesses and tourism development, as areas of business development in the Region.

The Volta Region is largely agrarian, traversing all tropical vegetation zones, and has a huge but latent tourism and food processing potential.

There are also hints of a petrol-chemical presence in view of reports of crude oil deposits in the Region.
