Former president Rawlings has sent an olive branch to his internal political rival Dr Obed Yao Asamoah for what promises to be an eventual ceasefire in the party by inviting the party?s chairman to a first ever Founder?s forum to be held early next week.
The forum to be held at the KAMA conference centre on Monday, November 7,2005 is part of measures to eradicate factionalism that had bedeviled the party since it last national congress.
The forum would also be an opportunity for aggrieved party members to resolve the seeming tension and heal the wounds of mistrust and bad blood among the leading members of the party.
Reports say pertinent issues militating against the party in its quest to wrestle power such as ? certain aspects of the Representation of the People?s Amendment Bill? will also be discussed.
Special Aide to the former President Victor Smith confirmed that the forum was at insistence of the founder of the party, saying the founder is worried about recent developments on the party.
Other members invited to the party include all members of the National Executive Council, the minority caucus in Parliament and a cross section of the party?s faithful.
Recently, the NDC has been in the news fro what critics see as factional in fighting with its National Women?s Organizer, Frances Assiam, claiming that the founder of the party paid her to destroy its chairman, Dr Obed Yao Asamoah.
