Rawlings off to Germany, UK

Accra, Oct. 21, GNA — Former President Jerry John Rawlings left Accra on Thursday night for Dusseldorf, Germany to address a political forum on Democracy, Good Governance, Security and Human Rights in Africa.

A statement issued on Saturday and signed by his Special Assistant and Director of Public Affairs, Victor Emmanuel Smith, said the former President would also address a grand meeting of the National Democratic Congress supporters in Hamburg and later continue to the United Kingdom (UK).

Whilst in the UK, ex-President Rawlings would speak at the London South Bank University Forum on occasion of the London Black History Season.

He was accompanied by Ambassador Victor Gbeho, former Foreign Minister and would be joined in London by Dr. Tony Aidoo, Former Deputy Minister of Defence.

He will be away for six days, the statement said.
