Rawlings Holds Talks With Danish Minister

Accra (Greater Accra), 9 Jan.,

President Jerry John Rawlings today called for a step-up in Ghana Denmark economic co-operation and said Ghana has a lot to learn from the Nordic country in terms of forest preservation. “We want the level of co-operation that is not (rpt not exploitative of the ecology. You have gone through it before, so we can learn from you,” he said when Miss Jyite Hilen, Denmark’s Minister of Research and Communication, called on him at the castle, Osu. She arrived in the country on January four on a one-week visit to access the impact of Danish assistance to Ghana which is mainly in the health, transports, energy and rural water sectors. President Rawlings said in expanding co-operation with Denmark, he expects Danish companies to come with those values of environmental consciousness which they practise at home “so Ghanaian companies could learn from them.” He praised the performance of Danish volunteers in Ghana, saying they operate in difficult rural areas.
