Rapist/Armed Robber Arrested By The University Of Ghana Security

A twenty-six-year-old phone repairer, Ernest Nkansah, who often lures prostitutes to the University of Ghana campus to rape and rob them at knife point is helping the Legon District Police in their investigations into allegations levelled against him by some of his victims.

A source close to the Legon District Police Command told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Legon on Monday that the modus operandi employed by Nkansah was that, he visited night clubs in Accra during which time he watched prostitutes who received more clients during the night.

He then lured them at mid-night to the University of Ghana campus on the Hearts of Lion Training Park for his nocturnal operation.

The source said on the October 20, 2011 the victim, Madam Gloria Combat Afor reported that, the culprit had picked her from Jokers Night Club in La-Accra and sent her into a container which was located on the Hearts of Lion Training Park on Legon Campus.

She said Nkansah at knife point threatened to kill her if she did not release all the money she had on her. Gloria obediently handed over the GHc300.00 she had made from prostitution that night to him. Nkansah then demanded to have sex with her but she told him that she was in her period. She reported the case the following morning to the University Security in Legon.

Nkansah who was busily repairing mobile phones at the Bush Canteen on Legon Campus was arrested and sent to the Charge Office at Legon Police Station where he was identified by the victim.

Two other female prostitutes who were picked on different dates from Nkrumah Circle also came to identify Nkansah as the culprit who perpetrated the same act on them.

The Legon District Police are investigation the case.
