Randy Abbey does not control Mahama’s Visitors – NDC Youth Network

A Pressure group, known as the Youth Network of the NDC has noted that senior journalist, Randy Abbey does not have the powers to deny anybody, including members of the ruling NDC access to the Presidency.

The group’s comment comes on the heels of allegations by Former Majority Leader, Alban Bagbin that the Senior Journalist is now the gate-keeper at President John Mahama’s official residence.

The former health minister wondered why he has been denied access to Mahama for the past five months despite his persistent efforts to counsel him privately about tackling corruption in his government.

The aggrieved Nadowli Kaleo Member of Parliament told Radio XYZ earlier in the week that Randy Abbey’s gate-keeping role has led to the denial of access to the president, to many members of the governing party. “…If you go to President Mahama’s house, official residence, and Randy Abbey is in charge there, how do you expect NDC members to have access to the president?” Bagbin said Monday.

But a statement issued by the Youth Network of the NDC said although Mr. Randy Abbey and the first family have had a long standing relationship before 1992, he has no influence whatsoever on who should see the president or not .

“Even if Randy Abbey frequents the residence of the president, his presence there cannot be attributed to the failure of some people to see the president.” The group’s spokesperson, Latif Awuni noted.

The group described the allegations by Alban Bagbin as an attempt to create enemies around President John Mahama.
