Alhaji Mohammed Gharzali, Chairman of the 11-member National Muslim Delegates Committee, has entreated Muslims to be vigilant in sighting the moon, which marks the beginning of this year’s Ramadan.
Alhaji Gharzali said June 27 and 28 had been declared as the official dates in sighting the moon, and emphasized that should the moon fail to appear, then June 29 becomes the automatic date for fasting among the Muslim fraternity.
The Committee Chairman disclosed this at the 20th National Ramadan Conference in the Western Region under the theme: “Religious Tolerance a Pre-requisite for National development.”
The Conference brought together Muslim scholars and academia from the 10 Regions of Ghana, to brainstorm and chart a new course for the growth and development of the Religion and its followers in the country.
