Rainstorm renders 200 people homeless in Fanteakwa

Akoradako (E/R), July 18, GNA – About 220 people have been rendered homeless when roofs of 50 houses were ripped-off in a severe rainstorm that hit Akoradako in the Fanteakwa District. The Pentecost church, the New Apostolic church and the local market were also affected by the disaster. There were no casualty, but the Fanteakwa District Co-ordinator of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Kwame Appiah Kodua told newsmen that damage caused to property ran into millions of cedis. He said NADMO had provided tents to accommodate 70 of the victims temporary while the rest were residing with relatives and friends.

Mr Kodua said about 250 bags of cement and 50 bundles of roofing sheets would be required to rehabilitate the victims. The Assemblyman for the area, Mr William Dei Agyakwa, appealed to the District Assembly, individuals and organisations to assist the victims.
