Rainstorm Renders 20 People Homeless

At least 20 people were rendered homeless after a severe rainstorm at Akim Bisease in the North Birim District at the weekend. The storm which ripped off the roofs of the Bisease local authority primary school and some individual homes destroyed property estimated at more than 10 million cedis. The worst affected victims were Mr.. Samuel Kwame Odame, and Mr.. Kofi Seine, both farmers. The entire roofs of their newly constructed buildings were ripped off. Mr.. Patrick Kwame Adu-Adjei, assembly member for the area, told the Ghana News Agency that most of the victims are putting up with friends and relatives. He appealed for assistance from the district assembly and the district’s disaster management committee towards the rehabilitation of the victims.
