Rainstorm leaves Bonwire Sec/Tec in ruins

A heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds on Sunday night left a dormitory block at the Bonwire Senior High Technical School in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality in ruins.

It badly damaged the roofing and destroyed books, mattresses and other personal items belonging to the students.

Mr George Oduro Yeboah, the Headmaster, told the Ghana News Agency that one of the students was injured by flying debris and was rushed to the Divine Hospital at Ejisu for treatment.

He is reported to be in stable condition and expected to be discharged soon.

The storm struck at about 1930 hours, when the students were on prep.

He said the school was now saddled with the problem of finding accommodation for the affected students, who had been forced to sleep in the classrooms.

Mr Yeboah gave the assurance that the disaster would not disrupt the school’s academic programme.**
