Rainstorm displaces soldiers in Ho

A rainstorm has displaced 11 soldiers and their families at the 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho, on Saturday.

The soldiers lost their personal belongings following the ripping off of roofs of their buildings.

The storm also destroyed the Civilian Establishment Organisation, Sergeants’ Mess and the Light Aid Department.

Lieutenant Yakubu Abdul, Adjutant at the Regiment, said the soldiers and their families were temporarily putting up at the singles’ quarters.

The GNA was told that some families made up of four, five, six and seven persons were staying in single rooms.

Some of the victims, who spoke to the GNA, appealed to the government to help renovate the residential apartments, some of which were built over five decades ago.
