Rainstorm displaces 170 people at Ofoase

Ofoase (Ash) Feb 29, GNA – About 170 residents of Ofoase near Obogu in the Asante Akyem South District have been displaced following a heavy downpour in the community on Wednesday. The storm injured six people and ripped off the roof of 30 buildings. The six people were treated and discharged at the Ofoase Health Centre. Victims of the disaster are lodging in church houses with others putting up with friends and relatives. Mr. De-Graft Fokuo, Assembly member for Ofoase West who briefed the Ghana News Agency, said the rain lasted for about three hours and had brought hardship to many people and called for a swift response from the district assembly and philanthropists to assist. Mrs. Gifty Ohene Konadu, Member of Parliament for the area, visited the community to access the extent of damage caused and promised to offer assistance.
