Rainstorm destroys school blocks

Some schools in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region have been hit by severe rainstorm.

Tadamuni Islamic Primary School, among other schools, was seriously hit by the more than two hours of rainstorm.

School authorities have therefore appealed to government to intervene to aid the children get access to classroom for teaching and learning.

The severe rainstorm injured two persons who were rushed to the Bimbilla Hospital for medical attention.

Over 100 houses and properties were destroyed rendering several residents homeless.

Some affected victims were accommodated by families and friends.

The District NADMO Coordinator for Nanumba North, Kojo Nlebe told DAILY GUIDE that they had visited the affected areas to ascertain the level of damage caused by the rain.

According to him, the NADMO office in the district is currently empty and therefore implored the District Assembly, institutions, and philanthropists to assist for the affected victims.

“Our stores are empty and so we will appeal to NGOs and other bodies to support the affected victims of the rainstorm.”
