Rainstorm destroys roofs of houses at Garu

Garu (U/E), May 19, GNA- A severe rainstorm hit part of Garu, near Bawku in the Upper East Region on Tuesday ripping off the roofs of several buildings including the police post.

The effect of the rainstorm was too severe even though it lasted for less than 30 minutes.

The affected families have moved to live with relatives as work is being carried on in their homes.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area, Mr. Joseph Akudibilla, promised to assist the victims. He commended the police personnel for carrying on with their duties in spite of the problem and pledged that the station would be roofed quickly.

Mr. Akudibilla urged the people not to despair since the rains are signs of good harvest.
