Akyem Anyinam, April 22, GNA- A severe rainstorm has hit the Akyem Anyinam township and destroyed some private and public buildings. Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Anyinam on Thursday, a Spokesman of the Zongo community, which was hardly hit, Alhaji George Seidu, said the rainstorm that lasted for only ten minutes destroyed property running to millions of cedis.

He said the worst hit were the Islamic Junior Secondary and primary schools and the chief’s palace.

Alhaji Seidu said the displaced pupils are attending classes in two mosques in the community.

He said the community had appeal to the East Akyem and Atiwa district assemblies for relief assistance. The Head Teacher of the Islamic Primary School, Mr Dauda Oware, told the GNA that the situation was rendering teaching and learning ineffective.
