Rainstorm damages 29 houses in Nkoranza

Nkoranza (B/A), Dec. 10, GNA – A severe rainstorm has damaged 29 houses and displaced more than 300 residents in four communities in the Nkoranza North District of the Brong-Ahafo Region. The affected communities are Domeabra, Sikaa, Akrudwa Number two and Pinihe.

The rainstorm pulled down electricity poles at Domeabra and this affected the lighting system in the community. Mr Benson Boadum Acheampong, Nkoranza District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation told the Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza that the damage caused to property was estimated at more than GH¢ 25,000.

He said the displaced persons, including Nana Gyan Boateng, Chief of Norse, a suburb of Domeabra whose house was completely destroyed were currently staying with relatives and friends. He urged the victims to exercise restraint as his outfit was making efforts to get some relief items for their rehabilitation.
