A heavy rainfall on Monday morning disrupted the biometric voter registration in the Asante-Mampong Constituency.
When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the centre at about 1100 hours, only nine people had defied the rains to register at the Akyeremade Anglican Centre “A” and “B” on the last day of the phase-one of the nationwide exercise.
Mr Isaac Agyekum, Special Duties Officer for the two centres told the GNA that a total of 1,040 applicants had been issued with voter identification (ID) cards.
He complained about intermittent freezing of the computer and said it had been their major challenge.
At the T/I Ahmadiyya SHS, Mr Kwasi Sampson, the Registration Officer, said they had so far registered 910 applicants without encountering any technical problem during the past nine days.
The official at the Krobo Community centre, Mr Ebenezer Oteng Mensah, told the GNA that 752 people had registered at the centre.
Mr Frank Ohene Okrakue, the Municipal Electoral Officer, gave the assurance that they had prepared well enough for the next phase of the exercise, which starts on Wednesday.
He said he was confident the problems that bedeviled the first 10 days of the registration would not recur.**
