Rain Storm Hit Penkwase

Residents of Penkwase a suburb in Sunyani are counting the cost of destruction done to their property after rain storm yesterday ripped off the roof ceilings of many houses.

Many weak structures including wooden pavilions for Schools collapsed in the storm. In some other cases a big tree fell on top of a five bedroom house.

There two casualties, a 67 year old Pensioner, Nana Amoabeng Tuffour,and formerly of GBC who had volunteered as a photographer in the registration exercise, sustained serious injuries when a twenty year old weak pavilion collapsed on him while he was taking cover from the rains.

He was rushed to the Sunyani Regional Hospital for treatment looked to be in pain when Space Fm paid him a visit; there were other isolated cases of debris from flying roofs and ceilings causing injuries.

The corps of disaster management volunteers were ready at hand to offer assistance to remove debris.

Meanwhile the Sunyani District NADMO co-ordinator Kwasi Annan Frimpong has given assurance that his outfit will assess the situation and give the needed assistance to victims.
