RadioPhone For Jasikan

Accra – Victor Essel Company Limited an Accra based private telephone company has entered into an agreement with the Jasikan District assembly to link the district with a radiophone to enable the people communicate with the outside world.

Briefing The Independent at Jasikan, the District Chief Executive, Madam Vida Asiedua Donkoh said this arrangement is an interim measure being taken whilst awaiting for telephone facilities from Ghana Telecom by the year 2001.

She said the assembly is expected to pay an amount of ?16 million being 50% of the total cost of the project to enable it taken off.

Under the arrangement, Madam Asiedu Donkoh said two lines will be tapped from Ghana Telecom at either Hohoe or Amedzofe to the Jasikan township where one of the lines would be used to establish a communication centre where the inhabitants can pay and call.

The DCE said so far a test call has already been conducted which proved successful.
