Queenmother and three others arrested for assault

Mankranso (Ash), May 24, GNA- The Mankranso police last Wednesday arrested and detained Nana Abena Bonsu, queenmother of Biemso Number One in the Ahafo-Ano South district and three others for allegedly assaulting a cocoa purchasing clerk of Olam Ghana Limited.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Mankranso, Police Chief Inspector Carl Michael Adjeng, said on April 27, this year, Mr Kwasi Owusu, the purchasing clerk who also doubles as chairman of the Adense unit committee, went to the district office of Olam Limited. He said on his return, at about 2000 hours, he met one of the accomplices, Yaa Benewaa who picked a quarrel with him.

Chief Inspector Adjeng said without any provocation, Benewaa slapped him and was joined by two other accomplices and the queenmother who used one of her sandals to slap Mr Owusu’s face. He said an amount of 1.6 million cedis belonging to the purchasing clerk was stolen during the assault.

Inspector Adjeng said investigations were continuing into the matter.
