Queen-mothers Association raising funds to support health care

The Western Regional Queen-mothers Association, on Tuesday organized a Regional Foods Festival, to raise funds to purchase a mobile digital mammography unit for the screening of women for breast cancer.

The festival showcased foods of the various ethnic groups in the region.

In an interview with newsmen at the festival, Nana Akosoa Gyamfiaba the second, Queen-mother of Nyankrom near Takoradi, who was the spokesperson of the Association, said the mammography unit was estimated at two million Ghana Cedis

She said the Association decided to organize the Foods Festival to raise funds to compliment the contributions that members were making monthly.

Nana Gyamfiaba said the Association would embark on other fund-raising project, and appealed to the public and organizations to assist the Association to purchase the mammography unit.

She said the mobile digital mammography unit will be used for screening in all parts of the region, and the Association would foot all expenses in regard to the operation of the unit.
