Quashigah consoles family of dead doctors

Accra, Aug 30, GNA – The Minister of Health, Major Courage E. K. Quashigah (rtd) on Tuesday expressed condolences to the families of the three top doctors of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital who died in a motor accident on Saturday August 27, 2005.

A statement signed by Mr Samuel Owusu-Agyei said the entire work force in the Health Sector had learnt with sock the untimely death of the three medical specialists and described the death as a great loss to their families, the health sector and the nation as a whole.

The accident took the lives of Professor J. M. Quartey, Dr Isaac Bentsi and Dr Benjamin Osei-Wiafe all Urologists of the Korle-Bu teaching Hospital while returning from an outreach programme in Sunyani. The statement said the Urology Department of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital had been deprived of a high calibre and critical human resource.

“It will indeed take time for the Department to be effectively functional in providing specialized health care services to the public.”
