Qatari NGO funds social projects

Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – A Qatari non-governmental organisation has been funding a number of projects in Ghana and would provide funds to build more educational projects soon.

Qatar Charity has financed the construction of two modern educational complexes at Gbawe in Accra and Tamale in the Northern Region, Sheikh Mohammed Aderedor, Deputy Director in Charge of Social Development of the NGO, said.

This was contained in a statement signed in Accra on Wednesday by Islamic Council for Development and Human Services (ICODEHS), local representatives of the Qatari NGO.

Sheikh Aderedor, who led a two-member delegation of Qatar Charity to Ghana as part of a 15-day tour of six West and Central African countries, said they had also constructed 400 wells and 20 mosques while 50 orphans and 20 students were being supported. The Qatar Charity delegation, which was taken round the country by officials of the ICODEHS, promised funding for poverty alleviation programmes of the Council through which women were given loans to engage in income-generating activities.

Sheikh Aderedor said the Charity would provide funds for more educational projects including the creation of schools for economics and business management.

Sheikh Mustapha Ibrahim, Chairman of ICODEHS, said they would improve their performance to gain more support from the Charity.
