Pastor Jonas Asare of the Abuakwa Faith Ministries International Church, has appealed to all Ghanaians to put the nation’s peace ahead of any individual or political interest.
He said they should renounce violence and accept to use dialogue to settle their differences.
Pastor Asare said this when speaking at a press conference held to announce a peace initiative he would be launching on Wednesday, April 25 in Kumasi.
The peace initiative dubbed “Ghana Peace First Programme” would bring together politicians, the clergy and other stakeholders to brainstorm on how to sustain the peace and this comes on the heels of reported violent scenes at some biometric voter registration centres across the country.
Pastor Asare, said the event would provide the platform to deliberate on effective ways of ensuring the peace and security before, during and after the December general elections.
He said, it was important for the nation to be guided by bloody election conflicts in some African countries to avoid such pitfalls adding that, Ghana has become the pride of the continent for its democracy and this must be protected.
He called on the clergy to lead the people to hold special peace prayers for the nation.**
