Put road signs on Mamfe-Koforidua road- GHA urged

Mamfi-Akuapem (E/R), April 10, GNA- The Chairman of Akuapem Central Taxi-Drivers Union of the GPRTU, Alhaji Sumaila Mahama has appealed to the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) to display road signs on the Mamfe-Koforidua highway to help reduce accidents.

He said because there were insufficient road signs on the road, drivers ran into sides of the road especially when descending the Mamfe hill.

Alhaji Mahama said the road signs on the road were erected by the GPRTU and that they were not conspicuous enough for the drivers to see and read the warnings.

The GPRTU Chairman made the appeal at a news briefing at Mamfe-Akuapem on Easter Saturday when he met with newsmen to comment on accidents recorded on the road recently.

Alhaji Mahama urged the authorities to place road signs on the Koforidua Dual Carriage to indicate where vehicles could make U-turn to avoid a situation where vehicles undertook U-turn anyhow.
