Pusiga police faces ejection

Pusiga(UER), Nov.10, GNA – The Pusiga Police post being housed in private premises has been requested by the landlord to vacate because it has been sold.

The Municipal Police Commander, Mr Peter Mawong, informed the Inspector General of Police, Mr Patrick K. Acheampong, about the ejection when the IGP inspected the post at Pusiga, near Bawku, on Wednesday, as apart of his Upper East Regional tour.

The IGP, directed the Divisional and Regional Commander to as a matter of urgency find another suitable premises to house the post. He said the post was an indispensable factor to sustain peace and orderliness in the area, therefore, everything possible should be done to have police presence in the town.

Mr Acheampong said with the elevation of the Bawku Municipal Command to a Divisional, the post would be upgraded for more personnel to be posted there to check some of the cross-border crimes. The five-man personnel for the post complained of lack of suitable accommodation and over-working themselves.
