Purchasing Clerk jailed for duping employers

A cocoa purchasing clerk has been ordered by the Bibiani circuit court presided over by Mr Baptist Kwadjo Filson, to serve 15 years in prison for swindling his employers, Amajaro Company Limited, a licensed buying company (LBC) of GH¢36,676.

Benjamin Nii Quaye, 34, was pleaded guilty.

He received GH¢53,000 on November 20, 2013, to supply the company with 250 bags of dried cocoa beans but delivered only 77 bags.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alexander Asamoah told the court that the convict has been engaged to buy cocoa from farmers for the company at Sefwi-Proso.

He said Quaye went into hiding after supplying 77 bags out of the 250 bags of cocoa for which he had taken money.

A formal report was consequently made to the police and he was arrested at his hideout following a tip off.
