PURC Volta Region settles complaints

The Volta Region office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has settled 26 out of 28 complaints it received from the public between October 2011 and now.

Majority of the complaints were against the quality of service delivered by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), specifically low voltage and power outages Mr Philip Agbezudor, Regional Manager of the Commission, told the GNA.

He said the utility companies, ECG and the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), were co-operating with the Commission in addressing customers concerns and appealed to the ECG to carry out more education on the operation of pre-paid meters.

Mr Agbezudor appealed to the ECG to increase the teams dealing with problems on pre-paid meters so that customers would not have to wait for a long time for service to be restored to them.

In addition the ECG should take the particulars of customers who call at its offices with pre-paid meter complaints and follow up immediately instead of keeping the customers waiting for hours on its premises.
