PURC staff kick against reinstatement of Nana Yaa Jantuah

Staff of the Public Utility Regulatory Commission, PURC have voiced out their displeasure with plans to reinstate former Director of Public Relations and External Affairs, Nana Yaa Jantuah.

Nana Yaa Jantuah who was at the centre of a BNI investigation over some financial malfeasance said to have taken place at the Commission resigned from her position earlier this year

According to workers of the Commission, however, there are clear indications that the Commission’s Board, whose mandate expired at the beginning of the year are preparing to bring her back into the company.

On Thursday morning, workers of the Accra Regional Office of the Commission found their office in lock and chains together with posters all over the doors.

Even though they don’t know the person who locked up the office, the workers said they are in agreement with the messages carried out on the posters.

Emmanuel Nii Noi Dowuona told Ghanaweb that he used to be in charge of internal audit but was transferred to the Regional Operations office after a presenting a report which exposed some wrong doings at the commission rendering him redundant.

The workers also called on government to constitute a governing board and also appoint a new executive secretary for the commission.

National Chairman of the PURC Workers’ Union, Alhaji Jabaru Abukari said they had presented several petitions to the Chief of Staff for a new board and Executive Secretary but that is yet to be done.

He said, “ Mr President, we are appealing to you through this medium to at least give us a technical board and give us an executive Secretary”.
