Pupils schooled on prevention of tuberculosis

Mr. Samuel Atidzah, Executive Director of GOSANET Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation on health has described the spread of tuberculosis in the country as “very alarming”, blaming the situation on ignorance.

He advised the public to cover their mouths and noses when yawning or coughing to prevent the spread of tuberculosis (TB).

He made the call at a sensitization programme dubbed “Kick Tuberculosis out” at the Alpha Aset International School at Akoefe on Monday.

Mr. Atidzah advised TB patients to visit the hospital for medication since the disease is curable, instead of resorting to self medication to aggravate their conditions.

Mr. Winnard Klu, Ho Municipal TB Coordinator appealed to the public to encourage patients to seek medical help and take their medications instead of stigmatizing them.

Mr. Joshua Buatsi, Assembly member for the area thanked the Foundation for its efforts in educating the public especially children, about the disease and appealed to the pupils to help educate others and adopt measures to prevent the disease.**
