Publishers congratulate Kufuor

Accra, Dec. 13, GNA – The Private Newspapers Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) on Monday congratulated President John Agyekum Kufuor on his re-election for another 4-year term.

A statement signed by Mrs Gina Blay, President of the Association said, “Publishers and Editors in this country wish to take the opportunity to encourage President Kufuor to continue with his policy of all-inclusive government, not only at the national level but, to permeate, even, to the district level to tap the good human resources available, to help build a strong and united country, devoid of ego-centric and partisan political biases.

“PRINPAG believes that the good people of Ghana has shown gratitude to the Kufuor Administration whose major democratic principles include the freedom of expression, rule of law, vigorous infrastructure development, enhanced social services, private sector development, and above all, good democratic governance.”

The statement appealed to all editors to avoid publishing unethical headlines and stories that would undermine the results of the general elections, and the credibility of the Electoral Commission. It said that was necessary “since all the major players, including the noble people of Ghana, and the international community have accepted the December 7, 2004 polls in good faith.”
