Publisher granted 15 million cedis bail

Tema, Dec. 18, GNA – A circuit court ‘A’ in Tema has granted 15 million cedis bail to a publisher, who collected 1,800 dollars from a complainant to help him secure a British VISA but failed to honour his promise.

Edwin Babu, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, will reappear on January 11, 2005.

Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that in March 2004, the complainant was introduced to the accused as an agent who assisted people to go to the United Kingdom (UK) to work.

The accused took 1,800 dollars from complainant to secure a UK VISA for his brother (complainant) but failed to fulfil the promise. Babu was able to pay 1,000 dollars of the amount, which was still with the police.
