Publish Huni Valley railway accident report now -NDC demands

Takoradi, Sept. 2, GNA – Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketsiah, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the government to make findings on the Huni Valley rail accident public. He said any report on the accident will vindicate the NDC and blame the NPP for supervising the total collapse of the railway system, including its communication systems in the country.

Mr Asiedu-Nketsiah said it was sad that the NPP had deliberately refused to invest in the railway and supervised its total collapse. He therefore called on Ghanaians not to choose any political party to lead the nation, “you must choose people with competence and skills to run all sectors of the economy smoothly”. Mr Asiedu-Nketiah was speaking at Takoradi Polytehcnic Chapter of the Tertiary Education Institutional Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday. He said it was dangerous to use a goods train to convey passengers and if this act was not stopped, more fatalities were likely to happen. Mr Asiedu-Nketisah said many of the railway tracks have been sealed and thereby prevented railway from using such routes. “We cannot allow our railway to die, we must revive them, all our lines were working effectively before we left office,” he stressed. “Choose democracy oriented leaders and not violent oriented ones,” adding only one person, Professor John E. Atta-Mills, can govern, promote democracy and provide accountability for the nation at all times, he said.

He said under the New Patriotic party (NPP), two ship loads of crude oil from the Saltpond Oilfields disappeared on the high seas and Ghanaians should demand the whereabouts of those ships from the NPP. “How can they account for the Western Cape Three Points oil if the Small oil at Saltpond could be allowed to disappear,” he queried. “Ghanaians should be cautious of the NPP and the oil to save the nation from any embarrassment,” he added.
