Public warned of robberies on Accra-Kumasi highway

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Angwunbotoge Awuni, Eastern Regional Police Commander, has cautioned the public to be security conscious on the Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway to prevent robbery attacks when travelling.

He said motorists who normally ply that stretch of the road should not stop to check any noise whatsoever since robbers used that as bait to attack vehicles.

DCOP Awuni, while addressing officers and men of the Regional Command and the media in Koforidua, stressed the need for police visibility along the Accra-Kumasi highway and urged District Police Commanders to create ‘tent cities’, particularly where they knew robbers and criminals took advantage of travellers, to protect lives and property.

The Regional Commander, who was meeting Senior and Junior officers in the region for the first time after taking over as the Regional Commander, called for support and effective cooperation from the personnel in tackling the numerous security issues in the Region.
